2019.08.02 The History Boys 《歷史男生》》/《高校男生》/《不羈吧！男生》（台譯）

1983年，英國八位資優高校男生，高中放榜後被校長安排上特訓班，為牛津，劍橋大學入學試做準備。校長一心靠學生入名牌大學，提升校譽，特意請來自稱畢業自牛津的Irwin為男生們上歷史課。特訓班還有老教師Hector負責的英文和General Studies。兩人教學方法、風格，以至待人處事方式截然不同，為男生們帶來衝擊。

Irwin目標為本，事事考慮如何滿足取悅考官； Hector但求啓發學生自己探索，比Dead Poet Society的Keating（Robin Williams飾）帶領學生撕課本更無譜，因為Hector根本不用課本，只開一個題，讓學生隨興之所至，唱歌、演戲，討論，在辯論之時處處衝擊文化、宗教、種族等等。Hector性騷擾學生是同學之間公開的秘密，Irwin卻小心翼翼掩飾自己對學生Dakin愛慕之情。學生年輕卻不是省油的燈，比教師看得更清，也處之泰然，以學識生動比喻，對師長咄咄相逼。女歷史教師Dorothy把一切看在眼內，默默記下眾人一生。

本片是改編自2004年英倫舞台劇，2006年巡演包括香港國際藝術節，2013年香港劇團劇場空間曾翻譯公演。我通通都錯過，唯有借來DVD一看再看。今次好奇學生和老師之間對同性戀都豪不忌諱，在網上搜尋英國LGBTI平權運動，原來人家1967年同性戀行為合法化。難怪影片場景設定在1983年，一切都沒甚了了，只是班中年紀最小的同學不被Hector允許乘搭順風電單車回家。

劇本引用大量英國文學，歐洲歷史於對白中作出比喻：同學間炫耀談論性愛經驗，男學生向年輕男教師挑逗暗示；在開場不久更有一大段由學生之間即興演的法文瘋狂劇，實在不易消化。除了字幕，就是靚仔和演技搭救。整套戲有著Dead Poet Society的影子，多了一份同性關係，少了一份沉鬱。實在，男校場境，有同性元素才是正常。但請勿視之為同志電影，不要衝著裸露鏡頭或是青春的曖昧而來，實在只是一套青春校園，春風化雨的電影。導演和編劇不過是藉著八個學生，三個教師，一個校長和他的秘書，從歷史課中看人與人之間的關係，包括了師生、愛情、作者和讀者之間的關係。

在今天的社會氣氛中，但求近兩小時的輕鬆，聽著對白，觸動處處，特意抄下來細味：

“One of the hardest things for boys to learn is that a teacher is a human.  One of the hardest things for a teacher to learn is not to try and tell them." Dorothy to Irwin, when they were watching the boys doing sports.

“The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – that you’d thought special, particular to you, and here it is, set down by someone else.  A person you’ve never met, maybe even someone long dead.  And it’s if a hand has come out and taken yours." Hector to David, in the classroom, while Dakin was consulting Irwin for the essays.

“How do you think history happen? People decide to do stuff.  Make moves, alter things." Dakin to Irwin.

“The smallest of incidents, the junction of a dizzying range of alternatives.  Any one of which could have a different outcome." Dorothy to Irwin, when they were waiting outside the headmaster’s room.

“Pass the parcel.  That’s sometimes all you can do.  Take it, feel it, and pass it on.  Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day.  Pass it on, boys.  That’s the game I want you to learn.  Pass it on." – Hector.
